Work on Bahrain-Qatar causeway, railtrack to begin |
|
"Construction of the Bahrain-Qatar causeway project, including a railway track, will begin next January," said Board Chairman of the Bahrain Qatar Causeway Authority, Dr Hossein Al Hammadi.
Beginning of the 51-month-construction was revealed at a seminar held by Qatar Chamber of Commerce and IndustryQatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry
to clarify various aspects that highlight the project and the resulting pre- and post implementation investment opportunities. The causeway agreement, signed by Bahrain and Qatar on June 11, 2006, stipulated the construction of the causeway and its establishment and formation of an eight-member board, four from each country, for a three-year term. "The first board term, however, will last for 5 years, with alternated chairmanship between the two sides," Al Hammadi said. He emphasised the importance of the project, to be implemented by five entrepreneurs - including Qatar Diar and Vinci companies - as a fundamental dynamo for stronger bilateral and GCC cooperation, he remarked.
"Under the agreement, businessmen of Bahrain and Qatar and workers will be the first to avail of the environment-friendly project during and after execution," Al Hammadi said.

Well done. This is a constructive project that may ultimately link all GCC countries with roads and railways. Hope next step is a link to UAE thus overcoming the present political obstacles engulfing such realistic co-operations in the Gulf.
The future is for a pipeline carrying all the exported oil from the Gulf to the Sultanate of Oman Insahllah thus reducing dangerous pollution to all countries of the region! [Report Abuse | Email to a Friend | Reply to this Comment]
